General Purpose:

To develop Java-based business applications. Partners with business, technology and project management teams to ensure software applications are developed on time and according to business needs. Responsible for developing software from application designs and performing basic testing prior to transitioning software to the QA / testing team.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Uses design documentation and analysis of system requirements, along with other project documentation to develop/enhance software applications and/or specialized applications.
  • Responsible for coding, documentation and unit testing in accordance with development policies and procedures.
  • Meets outlined project milestones and schedules for completion of code, as well as program documentation and submission for review. Ensures system code and documentation suitability and conformance to application development standards.
  • Participates in core development activities, including the creation of data models, application code, and testing.
  • Participates in creation and review of technical designs, specifications and application architecture (including code). Identifies and resolves potential problems and design flaws.
  • Assists in development of project plans and estimating work effort. Documents and communicates status of development activities against plan to management and team members.
  • Reviews and understands technical designs, specifications and application architecture (including code). Identifies and supports the resolution of potential problems and design flaws.
  • Implements and uses new technologies, products and tools used in the application development environment.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of software design, development and/or testing of business software applications (3+ years Java development, 2+ years implementing large scale, dynamic websites.
  • 3+ years of application development experience with 24x7, real-time transaction processing systems.
  • Significant contributor on at least three major projects.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience in implementing application software development projects required.
  • Experience with Internet applications and development and maintenance of corporate intranets and/or custom applications.
  • Familiar with a variety of development methodologies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to department management and business sponsors the status of projects and issues as they relate to the development process.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well with others on technical and managerial subjects in both written and oral form. Ability to use the English language orally is required.
  • Ability to identify goals, set priorities, and meet objectives with a minimum of supervision is required.
