RPG Programmer Analyst

General Purpose:

To work directly with one of our clients to manage and resolve issues. Will be required to design, code, test, install, document programs, and enhance existing programs to ensure that data processing systems continue to meet users' needs.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Uses design documentation and analysis of system requirements, along with other project documentation to develop/enhance software applications and/or specialized applications.
  • Responsible for program analysis, coding, testing and implementing application systems.
  • Meets outlined project milestones and schedules for completion of code, as well as program documentation and submission for review. Ensures system code and documentation suitability and conformance to application development standards.
  • Participates in core development activities, including the creation of data models, application code, and testing.
  • Participates in creation and review of technical designs, specifications and application architecture (including code). Identifies and resolves potential problems and design flaws.
  • Documents and communicates status of development activities against plan to management and team members.
  • Supports, troubleshoots and tests RPG based business applications.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical training or experience.
  • 5+ years of RPG Programming Experience
  • Knowledge of iSeries command language and RPG IV/ILE programming
  • Ability to investigate and resolve issues for customers, utilizing system documentation
  • Knowledge of Object Oriented Language (i.e. JAVA) is a plus.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Experience with Internet applications and development and maintenance of corporate intranets and/or custom applications.
  • Familiar with a variety of development methodologies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to department management and business sponsors the status of projects and issues as they relate to the development process.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well with others on technical and managerial subjects in both written and oral form. Ability to use the English language orally is required.
  • Ability to identify goals, set priorities, and meet objectives with a minimum of supervision is required.
