Umatilla Electric Cooperative Considers ToolBoxiXp an Important Piece of their Enterprise IT Architecture
Hermiston, OR and Bowling Green, MO – August 4, 2008. Umatilla Electric Cooperative has purchased and plans to utilize
ToolBoxiXp as an integral part of their enterprise integration,
beginning their TWACS automated reading project.
"Initially, ToolBoxiXp will provide the vehicle
for daily TWACS reads and blink counts to move from the TWACS network server to Daffron CIS,” explains Gordon Graham, Information Technology Director
at Umatilla Electric. "The ToolBoxiXp also provides the interface for
the mobile field force technology that will be used in our TWACS meter exchange process."
ToolBoxiXp is the integration solution between
the Daffron software suites (CIS, FMS, and MMS) and 3rd party AMR, GIS, IVR, Outage, and Staking vendors. It also integrates with GIS, IVR, OMS, and
WinStake Daffron software solutions.
For most, ToolBoxiXp is simply seen as the
integration component module for the Daffron software suite. Instead of embedding custom integration code into the Daffron system,
ToolBoxiXp includes all integration separate. Third party vendors
will now integrate with ToolBoxiXp, not the database directly and not
with any custom code contained within the Daffron system.
"In the future, ToolBoxiXp will be the
centerpiece as we build more interfaces between data repositories and information systems,” Graham states. "The
ToolBoxiXp, with its inherent ability to adhere to the MultiSpeak
standard, will be our interface benchmark for future technology acquisitions. It is an important piece of our enterprise IT architecture
going forward."
ToolBoxiXp uses the MultiSpeak v3
specifications when possible. Under this strategy, each software vendor is responsible for developing and maintaining its side of all integration
required for third party applications. This eliminates the need for vendors to be knowledgeable about other vendor systems allowing upgrades to take
place without concern for traditional integration issues.
